Brazilian piano star Benjamim Taubkin has been making waves with his sensual mix of lush traditional arrangements. For this tour he has teamed up with exhilarating and innovative percussionist Adriano Adewale. Taubkin and Adewale toured in Sep/Oct 2013, appearing at Colston Hall (Bristol), Rich Mix London, Sage Gateshead, Junction Cambridge, Wiltshire Music Centre, mac Birmingham, The Stables (Milton Keynes), The Apex (Bury), NCEM (York), Pontardarwe Arts Centre and Poole Lighthouse.
Ballaké Sissoko is one of Mali's greatest exponents of the kora, the 21-stringed harp of the Mande people. Whilst his music is steeped in ancient West African traditions, this modest and soft-spoken man is also a true innovator. Sissoko’s quartet toured in Nov/Dec 2013, appearing at Colston Hall (Bristol), Rich Mix London, Sage Gateshead, Junction Cambridge, mac Birmingham, The Stables (Milton Keynes), The Apex (Bury), NCEM (York), Pontardarwe Arts Centre and Poole Lighthouse.
With their eclectic mix of pan-African styles and Tonga rhythms, Mokoomba have gained a reputation as “Zimbabwe’s best young band” (The Guardian). As a lap steel guitar aficionado and innovative performer, Debashish Bhattacharya has been operating ‘beyond the ragasphere’ for decades: his unique take on Indian classical music cementing a prolific international career.
