Cuban Rumba was a hot trend in 1950s Congo. Grupo Lokito re-connects Latin and Congolese music in an exuberant explosion of sound. Grupo Lokito toured in May 2010, appearing at The Theatre (Chipping Norton), Union Chapel, Sage Gateshead, Junction Cambridge, The Brewery (Kendal), Band on The Wall (Manchester), mac Birmingham, The Stables (Milton Keynes), NCEM (York), South Street (Reading), St George's (Bristol), Pontardarwe Arts Centre and Poole Lighthouse.
Ahmed Dickinson Cardenas was born in Havana, Cuba. A virtuoso guitarist, his repertoire mainly covers works by Cuban composers. Le Trio Joubran are the sons of a Palestinian master luthier, who is the son of a master luthier… a family steeped in the 4,000-year history of the oud.
